Simon Hearn (father of Cameron from our Rochester Club) is taking part in the Great British Bike Ride alongside Phil Vickery and John Inverdale. I have basically copied his email below as it sums up everything in a nutshell and is amusing and moving at the same time !

Good Luck Simon from all at RUGGERBUGS:

The Great British Bike Ride (www.greatbritishbikeride.com) is a charity ride from Lands End to London over a 5 day period. Sounds simple, but now if I tell you the route will be circa 330 miles and the ride on the first day is in excess of 90 miles it starts to seem a little bit more interesting. Now add the fact that I am not a regular cyclist and let’s face it not the smallest of guys this is going to be a very tough challenge!!

Now please pick yourself up from laughing, yes I am doing this and I promise no lycra pictures!!

The event finishes on Sat 9th July at Twickenham Stadium and thankfully coincides with the annual sevens tournament. A great chance to relax with a beer or two, see some first class rugby and see if I make it in one piece or totally seize up!

I am delighted to be participating in this great event and ask you to please dig deep and help support my chosen charities. To make things interesting I have two donation pages.

The first page: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SimonHearn1

This is the official charity page supporting Help for Heroes, The Rainbow Trust, The RPA Benevolant Fund and the RFU Injured Players Foundation. I need to raise a minimum total amount of £400 towards these charities on top of the £500 I have already personally contributed.

The additional charity I have chosen to support is the King’s College Hospital Charity. A few weeks ago I received a sponsorship request from one of the guys I know in the Lloyd’s Life market who has decided to jump out of a plane, much to the amusement of anyone who knows him. He is doing this in aid of the hospital that treated his 13 year old daughter (Meghan) whom suffered from a rare brain tumour in 2010. When Marc sent his email out to the market he attached a presentation which Meghan had prepared….WOW, what a brave young lady, really brought a tear to my eye. I am hoping to add a few pounds to the cause. I have attached a copy of the presentation, please grab a cup of tea and take a read.

I do hope you are able to support either or both of these very deserving causes and please do dig as deep as you can.
